There is the Riki’s taxi service, like in the UK, which is a bit of a cross between a private cab and a shared mini bus. The price for a ride also falls in between, so it serves as a good compromise. Riki’s works by calling in for the service and arranging the pick up and drop off locations. Your timeframe for this mode of transport will have to be quite flexible.
The trip from town centre in ‘Riki’s’ taxi is very interesting.
Some of these gaps are filled in big tourist towns like Cape Town, which cater to tourists but only go to certain areas. If you want to go to Kirsentbosch Botanical Gardens (the third most visited sight in Cape Town) you will have to get a group together and hire a Riki taxi.
